The historic city of Cheongju is the birthplace of the Iron Age and the Jikji, the oldest surviving book printed with the world’s first-known, movable metal types. The Cheongju Craft Biennale which started in 1999 as the world's first craft biennale, has established itself as a major contemporary craft event over the 20 years.
