Ateliers d'art de France presents

The continent of honour

As the epicentre of international contemporary creation, Révélations confirms its willingness to bring together and promote material artists from all over the world by naming a country of honour for each edition.

After putting the spotlight on Norway in 2013, South Korea in 2015, Chile in 2017 and Luxembourg in 2019, Révélations has chosen, for this fifth edition of the biennial, to broaden its horizons by celebrating the richness of the African continent, starting with the signature piece of its visual identity, produced by the South African artist Zizipho Poswa.

The cradle of an abundant, diverse creative dynamic, Africa constitutes the common theme that will run throughout the fair. It will enable participants to discover the specific know-how and techniques of the different countries and regions of the continent, from Maghreb and West Africa to Southern Africa.
It will pay tribute to bronzesmiths, ceramicists, sculptors, carvers, textile designers and cabinet-makers for example, who will be presenting their works at the international exhibition Le Banquet and at other exhibitions organised for the event.

Africa2020 Season
This theme has earned this 5th edition of Révélations a place on the Africa2020* Season programme, a series of events scheduled from December 2020 to July 2021 in France.

* The Africa2020 Season is organised and implemented by the Institut français, with the support of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sport, and in partnership with the Agence Française de Développement. The Season is also supported by the Board of Patrons of Africa2020.
